Kottayam : Renowned snake handler, Vava Suresh, was discharged from hospital today where he was miraculously retrieved from near-fatal condition following cobra-bite. The Medical Board evaluated Vava’s health parameters before letting him out the hospital. Minister VN Vasavan saw Vava off as he left for home from the hospital. “This is rebirth for me,” said Vava Suresh up on his discharge.
Close brush with death : The near-fatal incident took place on 31 Jan, when Vava Suresh was attending a snake-rescue call in Kottayam’s Kurchi. While maneuvering the snake into the gunny bag, it inflicted a quick bite to Vava’s right thigh. After looking up his wound, Vava caught the snake again and guided it into the bag, meant to ferry the reptile into deep forest. Soon after packing the snake, Vava slumped unconscious.
With 250 venomous bites and anti-venom shots, Vava’s liver condition was tricky making conventional treatment extremely difficult. A special team of experts was constituted to oversee his medical care. . And the government ensured the best possible treatment to the passionate snake lover who is a household name across Kerala and popular countrywide.
