Thiruvananthapuram : Indian multinational company TCS(Tata Consultancy Services) will invest Rs 600 crore in state for setting up of Tata Processing Campus. An agreement has been signed whereby TCS will invest a total of Rs 1350 crore for its proposed IT and ITES processing campus, said Industries Minister P Rajeev. Of this, Rs 600 crore investment will be deployed soon as part of first phase investments. The campus will be built on 36.83 acre land at KINFRA Electronics and Management Park in Kakkanad, Ernakulam. On commencement around 20,000 persons will find gainful employment at the campus.
V-Guard and Lulu Group too have indicated willingness for making more investments. V-Guard Will invest to the tune of Rs 120 crore against which, land sanction has been effected. Over 700 persons will be employed with the firm. Lulu Group will funnel investments into KINFRA Apparel Park in Thiruvananthapuram whereby 750 persons will be employed. Kalamassery-based Fair Exports will invest Rs 200 crore in its Food Processing unit at KINFRA too. Also, an exhibition centre will be set up at KINFRA in Kakkanad.
The government had signed an MoU with Tata Elxsi for a Rs 68-crore project at KINFA earlier. During the past five years, the LDF government doubled the number of micro, small and medium scale enterprises in state. 920 units were set up newly in the past two months alone. For setting up of Pharma Park, a high level committee has been formed in consultation with the Health Department , said the Industries Minister in reply to queries raised in the Assembly on Thursday by KU Jineesh Kumar, P Nandakumar, M Mukesh, Dr. Sujith and Vijayan Pillai.
