Thiruvananthapuram : There was vigilance raid at residence of AP Abdullakutty on Friday. The probe relates to a complaint that during his tenure as Congress MLA, Abdullakutty had misappropriated roughly 1 crore rupees for holding light and sound shows between 2011-16 at Fort St. Angelo in Kannur. A team headed by DySP Babu Peringoth had arrived at Abdullakutty’s Pallykunnu home early this morning, During their inspections, the officials also questioned the former MLA.
Set up as a supposedly permanent light and sound show at the tourism spot, the project, costing Rs 3.8 crore, in fact ran just for one day. The massive embezzlement took place during the leg of UDF term. The light and sound equipments wasting away in rust had also made news.
