Thrissur The police ruled Varantharapilly youth Vinod’s death as homicide and arrested his wife Nisha(43) in the case. As per Nisha’s account, she stabbed her husband during the couple’s argument over her phone call at night.
Nisha works at a private hospital in Thrissur. Vinod has been suspicious of her having an affair. On the fateful night of 11 July, Nisha said she was talking on the mobile and Vinod listened to it secretly. According to Nisha, Vinod lunged at her for the phone and she fought back. He then attempted to twist her arm. That’s when she caught hold of a knife from nearby and stabbed him, Nisha said. Frightened by what happened, she pressed the wound to prevent bleeding. However Vinod collapsed and fell, Nisha said.
She took him to the hospital and told doctors Vinod fell onto a sharp object during seizure. Police are awaiting postmortem report and digging more to learn exactly what happened to Vinod.
