Kollam : The Additional Sessions court in Kollam has found Kiran Kumar - husband of the Vismaya found dead by hanging at his house in Porvazhy last year. Case against Kiran Kumar was substantiated heavily by digital evidences in form of mobile contents, that effectively let Vismaya give testimony from beyond the grave of the tortures she had been suffering at hands of her husband in months prior before her death. A forensic download of Kiran Kumar's mobile, totalling to nearly 5 lakh incriminating messages, were laid before the court in this regard.
The court Monday morning pronounced Kiran guilty of dowry harassment and abetting suicide - charges that would fetch a minimum of 7 years and maximum a lifeterm.
Backdrop : Vismaya was found hanging from the bathroom window at her husband Kiran Kumar’s house in Poruvazhi close to Kollam’s Ambalathum on 21st of June, 2021 at 3.30 afternoon. A high-level police investigation and parallel departmental probe ensued that resulted in the state govt terminating Kiran Kumar from his job with Motor Vehicle dept nine months ago.
