Shoornad, Kollam : Police are looking to find out if suspect Kiran Kumar’s father or mother had a role in the suspicious death of his 24-year-old wife Vismaya V Nair - a CAMS student who was found hanging in the bathroom of her husband’s home in Kollam’s Shornood. Currently only Kiran has been indicted in the case and police have not yet come across anything suggestive of his parent’s role in violence Vismaya suffered at his house. Vismaya’s friend Aswathi told police that Kiran beat her up several times in front of his parents who never intervened to save her from those assaults. Kiran routinely fought with Vismaya over what he said was insufficient dowry and many times those fights turned violent, Aswathi added.
Kiran with his job background as Asst. Motor Vehicle Inspector is aware of investigation procedures and hence the probe team will plug all holes to get to the truth on what happened. The investigating officers need to interview doctors who performed Vismaya’s post-mortem to decide if there are additional charges mountable on Kiran Kumar. The probe team will reach Thiruvananthapuram Medical College to speak with doctors in this regard following which, they will seek custody of Kiran Kumar for further questioning.
Both Vismaya and Kiran’s mobile phone are currently with the police. Vismaya’s WhatsApp messages to relatives form crucial to the case. However, most of her messages have been deleted from the device and police have sought help from their cyber cell in this regard. Investigators will also examine social media accounts of the couple. Vismaya has communicated with her classmate, a Chavara native, on tortures from Kiran. Police will collect her testimony too.
