Thiruvananthapuram : Malappuram complainant who accused Minister Veena George’s personal staff Akhil Mathew of accepting bribe from him, now comes up with new argument after original story fell to pieces.
Video footage became released on media showing Akhil attending a marriage function in Pathanamthitta district from 2:30 afternoon to late evening on the 10th of April - the day the complainant said he handed cash to Akhil in Thiruvananthapuram’s Thycaud around that time. With visuals crumbling his story, the complainant Haridasan now claims he suffers from visual impairment and can't be sure if it was actually Akhil Mathew he paid the alleged bribe to.
According to Haridasan, he had met with Akhil Mathew at 3 pm in Thiruvananthapuram on 10 April and paid him Rs 1 lakh to secure his daughter-in-law a temporary job. However, the marriage ceremony videos show Akhil in Pathanamthitta at the time. The wedding was that of Pathanamthitta Elanthoor EMS Cooperative Hospital Secretary Alan Mathew Thomas and High Court lawyer Christina P George.
The wedding was venued at Shalom Marthoma Church in Pathanamthitta at 4 pm followed by banquet at Mylpra Pallipadi Sam Auditorium. Alan and Akhil are first cousins and Akhil reached the wedding venue around 2:30 pm on the day and attended both the marriage ceremony and banquet all through.
