Thiruvananthapuram : The Vizhinjam Protest Committee announced withdrawal of protests Tuesday evening. The decision came about following talks Committee held with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the burning issue that turned Vizhinjam coast into more of a war zone for 138 days now.
Post the talks, the protest leaders said they never demanded halt to construction of the port and rather asked to resolve issues affecting the people there. Those anxieties included rentals, rehabilitation, weather forecast for fisher folks, minimum wages for fish workers etc, all of which the govt assured would be resolved, said the protest committee representatives.
