KOCHI : The govt informed High Court that a lockdown relief of Rs 1,000 shall be granted to all wayside sellers in Kochi, including migrants among them. The response came over an amicus curiae report tabled at the court describing impact of lockdown on street vendors in the city.
A relief of Rs 1000 per head for workers, not covered by Social Safety Scheme but belonging to BPL category, was announced earlier, the govt said. Also, their families would be provided free rations and meals from community kitchens, the govt added.
The amicus curiae report came up over a plea filed with the court earlier urging it to ensure wellbeing of roadside vendors.
