NEW DELHI : The Left parties are set to organize week-long protests across the country beginning Feb 12 - 18, against the Centre’s Budget that ravages livelihoods of the people and pushes them into deeper distress..
The protests will pitch demands to stop privatisation of national assets including LIC and roll back budget cuts on food subsidy, agriculture, social benefits, healthcare and employment guarantee scheme. The Left parties also demand a complete one-time waiver of farm loans, stopping of arbitrary dismissals and factory lockdowns that worsens unemployment crisis, fixing Rs 21,000 as minimum salary and increase in unemployment benefits.
The Left parties calling up the massive protests include CPI(M), CPI, CPI(L), AIAFB and RSP. The economic distress Modi govt unleashes on people via Budget is similar to the insecurity and fear it brought down via Citizenship Amendment, National Register of Citizens and National Population Register tagged with its radical Hindutva agenda and hate propaganda, said the Left parties.
