Kozhikode: Welfare Party called it quits on its ties with UDF on Saturday and said KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran was the first to hold talks on the topic. A delegation headed by Welfare Party president Hameed Vaniyambalam met with Mullappally. His responded positively about the cordial air that emerged post the parliamentary elections, said Hameed.
Mullappally is accountable for UDF’s defeat in the local body elections and blaming Welfare Party is only an escape mechanism, Hamid told reporters, clarifying that his party has ended its relations with UDF.
There would be no seat-sharing arrangements for upcoming Assembly elections. Such adjustments during local body elections were purely of regional nature, not a political affiliation. Neither were they part of belonging to the front, said Hameed.
Howver, there would be alliance whatsoever during Assembly or Parliament elections. The party has not approached any political front for an entry or affiliation for Assembly elections, Hameed said.
Welfare Party has its own politics when it comes to State and General elections. We will be around when Assembly polls tick. Our party never had an alliance with UDF before nor is there one now.. And from now on, there will be no kind of adjustments either. We don’t require that. In the coming elections, we will descend on the scene with politics that we represent, said Hameed.
