HARIPPAD : Police in Harippad arrested  Welfare Party District President Nazar for prompting guest workers to violate lockdown restrictions. Guest workers in massive numbers had streamed into streets at Paippad in Kottayam last week. The incident directly violated lockdown rules imposed in the State and nationwide, to slow the spread of Covid.  According to police, Aarattpuzha Nazar attempted to stage a similar congregation in Harippad, calling on guest workers  to hold marches to Village and Panchayat offices there.

The arrest reportedly came on back of incriminating evidence found on Nazar’s mobile. He has been charged for offences listed in Epidemic Disease Ordinance. Incidentally, Nazar  contested from Ambalapuzha in Assembly elections of  2016.
