Thiruvananthapuram : Kodikunnil Suresh’s remark insulting the Chief Minister and family is a rather crude one, said DYDI State Secretary AA Raheem. Who one should marry is entirely a matter of decision of the concerned person; Kodikunnil had once grieved that he was denied KPCC presidentsip owing to his Dalit caste; his remark now is one that drags Kerala backward in time, said Raheem.

Context: Suresh bragged that if Chief Minister was indeed a progressive leader, he should have married off his daughter to a Dalit.

Kodikunnil Suresh is a staunch opposer of women’s rights and personnel freedom, and a person who cannot accommodate progressive thinking at all, said Raheem. Kodikunnil’s remark is not in line with the modern thinking that it is up to an adult to decide who he or she will marry or acquaint with, Raheem added.
