Thiruvananthapuram :: The Central government’s move to do away with the word “India” is part of its repeated attempt to destroy pluralism of this country, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and asked people as a whole to be willing to protest against such cramped politics.
The move to remove the word “India” runs against the Constitution and the country itself, The first Article of the Constitutions refers to our Country as “India i.e. Bharat”. Similarly, the Preamble of the Constitution opens saying “We the people of India” while the Central government is trying to bring in amends that will exclude the word “India” wholly from it, said CM.
It’s is prelude to such move that, invitation letters to various nation heads for G20 summit was addressed from “President of Bharat” instead of the conventional “President of India”. The coinage runs against essence of the Constitution. Why so much fear for the word India ?, asked CM.
The Centre’s move should be seen as effort to remove concept as a nation even such as children’s learning “India is my country. All Indians are my brothers and sisters” right from their school level. No political act ought to move against the nation. That is undemocratic and unconstitutional. Therefore the Centre should pull back from the name-changing plan for the country, said CM.
