A question emerging from Congress’s huge election debacle in Kollam is : Will DCC president Bindu Krishna become replacement for BJP’s Shoba Surendran ?
As soon as election results came clear, posters were pasted widely across Kollam, labeling Bindu Krishna as “BJP agent”. More evidences of her alleged vote-selling flooded social media that dubbed her as ‘Payment Queen”. Her main pro-BJP maneuvers claimed on social media are as under:
In Palathara division, the incumbent Congress councilor was replaced by another that eventually led to losing of seat to BJP. Congress fell to a third place in this division. Similarly at Udhayamarthandapuram, the sitting councilor was moved out after DCC president adamantly propped up another candidate who had no public backing as a consequence of which, Congress, here too trailed to 3rd position. . In Kadappakada, the DCC president made direct intervention to oust 3 sitting councilors and replaced them with facilitating BJP victories. In Thevalli, RSS worker was helped to his victory to councilor. He had helmed turning over UDF votes in favour of BJP.
It is firmly believed that in UDF’s fortress of Ashramam, the seat was allocated to RSP based on Bindu’s closeness with BJP candidate there. BJP candidate in Uliyankovil first thanked Bindu Krishna for his victory – an instance flaunted on social media as proof of vote selling.
In Ulliankovil, UDF candidate representing a businessman who gifted the president with her new Innova car, fell to 3rd place in polls. In Kellikolloor, where Congress held sway for 15 years, Bindu Krshna nominated the candidate all by herself, sending the party trailing behind BJP again in 3rd
position. Social media also accused Bindu Krishna for her secret insaructions to canvass votes for BJP in Chathinamkulam, where she had allocated the seat to RSP.
