Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan clarified to media about certainly going ahead with defamation case against Swapna Suresh. One is accountable to check facts before blurting things to the media, said MV Govindan, adding that Swapna’s attitude is inappropriate and that there was no question of letting go.
MV Govindan’s notice to Swapna seeks an apology for her statements and compensation of Rs 1 crore. The Party state secretary’s clarification to media comes after noticing a recent remark from Swapna in which she expresses doubt he will deposit 10 percent of the defamation claim with court and pursue the case.
Backdrop: Swapna Suresh, indicted in gold-smuggling case, recently came up on Facebook Live claiming CPI(M)State Secretary, MV Govindan, sent a man who identified himself as Vijay Kumar and demanded that she retract her statementss against CM and his family, for which she would be paid Rs 30 crores in turn. Swapna said Vijesh on behalf of the Party Secretary also threatened to kill her if she failed to comply.
