LDF will hold protests over quarter lakh locations on 16 November against misusing central agencies to sabotage development in state. The decision coming from LDF State Committee will see demonstrations at bhooth-based sites totaling 25,000, across the state, convener A. Vijayaraghavan told reporters. The massive protest will be joined in by LDF leaders, ministers, MLAs, peoples’ representatives and lakhs of supporters from all over.
The meeting evaluated that : Investigative agencies are attempting to derail development projects by intimidating state officials. Such move to destabilise a constitutionally elected government is perpetrated by breaching provisions laid down by the constitution. No one objects to a normal investigation, however, this kind of wayward probe violating all norms shall be resisted with backing from public.
A broad alliance comprising UDF, BJP and communal elements are set against LDF in upcoming local body elections, said Vijayraghavan, adding that, there will be continued campaign to expose their nexus. Regional LDF Committees will come into being at panchayat, ward and division level by 21st. A sub committee shall be appointed to prepare the front’s election manifesto. Once nominations are complete, the manifesto will be released soon as campaign takes off.
Interestingly, parties raising anti-corruption slogans have their own members including MLAs heading for jail. In this respect, the Muslim League MLA ,MC Kamaruddin, has become the epitome of. fraud and embezzlement. Another MLA ,KM Shaji, is facing the heat from Enforcement Directorate, apart from being amid a Vigilance probe. Former minister VK Ibrahimkunj stands out as hallmark of corruption.
Neither Muslim League has been able to initiate proceedings against these persons nor has UDF been in a position to press for action, as they know that if they dared to, a large group of party men will have to follow suit. And, these are the very characters who without qualms, raise slogans against corruption, said Vijayaraghavan at the meeting.
The meeting held on Tuesday at AKG centre was chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. It was the front’s first broader meet after Kerala Congress became part of LDF.
