Kochi : KPCC President, accused second in the Monson Mavunkal antiques fraud case, will not appear before Crime Branch tomorrow. The information was stated by Sudhakaran himself who said, he had no involvement in the case and that he will fight the case legally. The Crime Branch issued Notice for him to appear at its Kalamassery office on Wednesday.
Sudhakaran claims he has nothing to do with Monson dealings and told the media he was consulting lawyers in this regard. However, the Crime Branch charge against him came on the back of secret testimonies in court by witnesses who said they positively saw Sudhakaran accepting Rs 10 lakh from Monson at his residence. The testimonies came from Monson’s former driver Ajith and his other staff Jaison and Joshi.
One of the complainants, a Thrissur native Anoop, had paid Monson Rs 25 lakhs. Sudhakaran had allegedly brokered that deal and after Anoop left, Monson handed Sudhakaran Rs 10 lakh out of it, the witnesses testified to court.
Sudhakaran - Broker to fraud in crores
In the case, Monson Mavunkal defrauded five people to the tune of crores, assuring he was owed money from customers abroad against sale of antiques. These complainants said, Sudhakaran had reinforced that story and personally assured to help release Rs 2.62 lakh crores stuck in bank in overseas transit.. The complainants further said there were negotiation rounds held at various occasions, in the presence of Sudhakaran for recovery of their monies, at Monson’s house in Kaloor.
