Thiruvananthapuram :The agreement signed by state public sector company KSINC to contract EMCC for building deep sea fishing trawlers is likely to be cancelled. The move follows findings that the agreement runs contrary to the government’s policy on the matter. Also, KSINC Managing Director, N Prashant, will be probed along with a few others who worked actively to draw up the agreement. Incidentally, the agreement has never been seen by Fisheries Department, Public Administration or the Legal Department before. No ministers have a knowledge of it either. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday clarified that any project in contrast with governmental policy on deep sea fishing will be rejected..
Interestingly, Ramesh Chennithala is the main campaigner of false propaganda revolving around this contract. N Prashant, the architect and signatory of the contract, was in fact Chennithala’s private secretary during his tenure as Home Minister. Given that, the probe will also look up if due procedures were followed prior to his signing of the agreement. The MD sent letter to minister seeking signature on the document . Chennithala jumped at the opportunity, purporting the request letter as the contract itself. Chennithala’s claim also raises a lot of questions. CM had earlier asked how copy of a letter to the minister found its way into Chennithala’s hands ? The probe in buildup of the contract will likely unravel the entire conspiracy behind deep sea-fishing controversy unleashed against the government.
