Adoor : A young couple were crushed to death under wheels , after a private bus ran berserk in busy Adoor town of Pathanamthitta district.
The incident took place around 6 pm. Saturday.
The victims were identified as Noornadu native Shyamkumar (30) and wife Shilpa Satyan(27). The couple had just stepped out of a Medical shop, when the bus ran out of control and struck them down.
Their bodies were retrieved after police together with public used ropes to lift up the bus that lay flipped over.
The driver and conductor fled the scene as soon as the accident occurred. The conductor was however nabbed shortly after and told police of the driver's drunkeness. .
District police chief G Jaydev who visited the spot said, the vehicle's permit and the driver's license shall be cancelled.
The bus, Morning Star, plies Mavelikara-Adoor-Mangadu route.
