Paravur : A family fight escalated into stabbing in Paravur where the youth stabbed his mother, sister and sister’s mother-in-law. Police took into custody Jimmy(43) of Cholur Veedu in Chavakad Kottapadi. Jimmy’s mother Thankamma John(75), sister Gigi(41) and sister’s mother-in-law Victoria Thomas*74) sustained stabs and remain hospitalised.
The incident tok place Friday morning 9 am at Gigi’s house on Kannankulangara Place road. At that time, Jimmy barged into her home and beat up Thankamma John badly. When she and Victoria Jimmy inflicted stabs on all three. When police arrived, Jimmy held Thankamma at knife point.
The police then persuaded him to drop the knife and took him into custody. Jimmy is an auto driver by trade and has had frequent run-ins with law including for extortion in Kochi. Gigi who was stabbed in the neck has 10 stiches while Thankamma and Victoria were stabbed on their hands.
Owing to property dispute and other differences, Jimmy has been estranged from his family for 13 years now. The police team led by Prashant P Nair, seized petrol cans, pepper spray and nunchakus from Jimmy. He is currently in remand.
