Thiruvananthapuram : A youth died from drowning at sea after being fetched ashore and hospitalised in Varkala’s Papanasham. The deceased has been identified as Riyad(35). The incident took place this morning 10 am.
Riyad was part of a 4-member group camped at Varkala. They had entered the shallow waters for bathing but Riyad soon became caught up in the waves. The Coast Guard, Police and Fire Rescue pulled him ashore and administered CPR. He was transported to the Taluk hospital but succumbed to death.
