MALAPPURAM : In a huge embarrassment to Youth League, the  parent party doused its call for staging protest on Amit Shah’s arrival in the State.  The Youth League State Secretary, K Firos, had called a press conference to declare anti-Shah protest. However the State  Secretary of Muslim League called a press meet soon after  and  announced its cancellation.

In effect, the Youth League plans were pulled down by the senior party, without its knowledge.  According to sources, the episode has  left Firoz and followers humiliated. The youth body lost its  face further as posts flooded social media pitched that, protest-related matters are prerogative of the parent party. Besides, Muslim League put out an explanation that the youth demonstration was planned without consulting it.

Spirited leaders of the Youth League had planned setting up a  ‘black wall’ with party workers linking hands from Karipur Airport, where Amit Shah is expected to arrive on 15 January, up to 35 km down the stretch.

League veteran PK Kunhalikutty downplayed retreat saying , “BJP is looking for opportunity to stir up conflict. We would rather not jump into the trap.”
