11 Electrocuted During Temple Procession in Thanjavur, 10 Critical

Thanjavur : Eleven, including 2 children, were electrocuted during a temple festival in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Several have suffered burn injuries of whom, condition of 10 remains critical.

The tragedy took place at Kaliyamed temple in Thanjavur while a procession relating Chitira festival was in progress. The festive chariot slammed into an electric post close to Thanjavur – Puthhalur road and persons attempting to pull it up suffered shock, as the chariot made contact with electric line above. The chariot was completely gutted in the incident.
