NEW DELHI: Opposition parties declared their support jointly for the Dec 11 national bandh called by Farmers’ Joint Committee. The Modi govt openly subverted democracy by passing the new agricultural laws in September. These laws will pawn the farming sector to multinational corporates. They also serve as basis for ending minimum support price and the country’s food security.
The joint statement issued by Opposition parties said call to repeal the 3 detrimental laws together with the Electricity usage Bill are only fair demands made by the nation’s food producers. Signatories to the statement comprised Sitaram Yechury(CPI(M), Sonia Gandhi(Congress), D RajaCPI), Sharad Pawar(NCP), MK Stalin(DMK), Farouqh Abdullah(PAGD), Thejaswi Yadav(RJD), Akhilesh Yadav(SP), Deepankar Battacharya(CPIML- Liberation), Debbaratha Biwswas(Forward Block) and Manoj Bhattacharya(RSP).
