New Delhi : About 17,000 Indian citizens are estimated to have crossed Ukraine borders up to now. Before govt call on 24th Feb, over four thousand Indians had left the country.
3352 Indians have been fetched back, said spokesperson for External Affairs Ministry, Arindam Bagchi. Six flights arrived from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries in the last 24 hours and fifteen more are expected to come shortly.
Those who might have lost their Indian passports are being provided emergency certificates.
Air Force cargo carrier C-17 Globmaster has left for Romanian capital of Bucharest. 31 more flights will be pressed into service in coming days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on phone to propose rescuing of Indians via regions with Russian presence.
