NEW DELHI : The Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is set to issue directives on privatising 6 more airports across the country. Airports  to be transferred into private hands include those at  Amritsar, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Raipur and Trichy.

Earlier, the first string of privatisation witnessed airports of Thiruvananthapuram, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangalapuram and Gujarat go to Adani Enterprises. Among them, Adani has already entered into  contractual agreements for operations at Ahmedabad, Mangalapuram and Lucknow airports, and proceedings toward ownership transfer of others are underway.

The Centre had earlier announced plans to seek private participation in the operations, management and development of the airports. The current lineup of  6 for sale, is part of that decision.

The list of airports slated for privatisation is long, said the Aviation Minister. There would be greater number of airports built by 2030, he added.
