New Delhi: The Delhi government approached Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of the Ordinance introduced by the Central government that seeks to cut down crucial powers of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi.
The Supreme Court on 11th of May ruled that powers of control relating to bureaucrats in Delhi excluding police, land and public order rests with the elected govt. However, the BJP=led govt at Centre brought out an Ordinance on 19th to override that prerogative.
The Ordinance establishes a National Capital Service Authority that will manage transfers, appointments and disciplinary proceedings against Group-A officers in Delhi.
