NEW DELHI : In an unexpected turn of events, BJP veteran and former Human Resources Development minister, Murali Manohar Joshi echoed protesting students’ demand, seeking removal of the Vice Chancellor(VC) of JNU. Joshi described M Jagadesh Kumar as an adamant VC and said he must be ousted.

According to sources, the HRD Ministry had twice advised the VC to work out a mid-way solution on the fee issue. He was also asked to reach out to the varsity’s teaching faculty and students. It is shocking that the VC has ignored govt suggestion, said Joshi adding that “This attitude is deplorable and in m opinion, such a VC should not be allowed to continue in this post,”.

JNU students had informed authorities and media that VC connived with miscreants and ABVP members , to facilitate last week’s violent attack by masked men.

The BJP leader’s statement on Thursday, comes after a massive students’ rally  led by Left veterans including Sitaram Yechury, Prakash Karat and Brinda Karat marched to HRD ministry in Delhi and clashed with police who tried to stop them.
