Another BJP MLA Resigns In Tripura; 3 Exit From Ally IPFT Too

New Delhi :With barely two months left for Assembly elections,  the exit of BJP MLAs continue unabated. In the latest, senior tribal leader and four-time MLA Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl put in his resignation on Wednesday - handing it over to the Assembly Secretary with the Speaker absent at the time.

Diba  Chandra was MLA of Karmcherra in Dhalai district and was MLA thrice before on Congress ticket. In 2016, Diba Chandra, 66. Joined Trinamool along with five other Congress MLAs before switching to BJP in 2018 shortly before the Assembly elections.

Diba Chandra is the seventh legislator  to quit ruling alliance this year. Three MLAs from ally IPFT too submitted resignations along side Diba Chandra.  The first of three to resign earlier  as BJP MLAs were :  Ashish Das, Sudeep Roy Burman and  Ashish Saha, all of who are ex-Congress leaders and returned to the party and Burman eventually became Agartala MLA after winning byelections.

Diba Chandra cited personal reasons for leaving BJP. Asked if he would join Congress, Diba Chandra told reporters to ‘wait and see’.
