NEW DELHI : Air Force and Navy on Sunday will carry out spectacular drills in a thank-you gesture to medical professionals and health staff for their fight against coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the number of persons infected with Covid-19 crossed 39,000 mark and death toll rose to 1,300. Over 4,000 new cases of the virus have been reported in past two days. And, 154 have died in that time. The recovery figures stand at 9,450 accounting for 26.65 percent of those who caught the virus
Saturday marked record single-day rise in infections with 2,433 fresh cases. 91 people died on the day. Of 1003 new infections reported in Maharashtra Saturday, 741 emerged from Mumbai.
As govt, health fraternity and public grapple with the pandemic, the armed forces announced gratitude display for the efforts. Air Force will make helicopter fly-pasts over hospital, showering flowers from above. Naval ships too will join in, conducting special drills in illuminated vessels while Army bands will play outside Medical College buildings in several districts.

One-third Population Under Red Zone
One-third of country’s population now live in red zones. Figuratively, that sums to 45 crore people in 130 districts around the country. Apart from eight of Delhi’s districts, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Chandigarh have two districts each under the red zone. State-wise, more than half the red-flagged population belong to Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh
