NEW DELHI : In a dramatic turn of overnight events, Congress govt in Madhya Pradesh has been plunged into power crisis.  Trouble began after eight of its MLAs ended up at a resort in Gurugram village, located on Haryana border. Of the eight legislatures, four belong to Congress while others are independents. There is frantic efforts to reach the legislators to Delhi. However right now it is a stiff face-off situation.

Attempts to fetch back the MLAs began after Congress leader Digvijay  Singh warned of BJP  trying to purchase  MLAs. According to sources, the holed-up MLAs were reportedly moved to this previously unknown location in an operation headed by BJP leader Narottam Mishra.

Congress has 114 MLAs in the 230-member Assembly while BJP has 107. Congress legislators include 2 from BSP, 1 SP and 4 independents. Two seats remain vacant.

Finance Minister Tarun Bahnod said Haryana police would not allow entry into the resort. Upon learning of whereabouts, Congress Ministers Jay Wardhan Singha and Jitu Padwari  headed for the hotel. There, they were blocked by BJP MLA Narottam Mishra and his men, Bahnod said.

Meanwhile there are reports of Congress leaders having led Ramabhai – the MLA ousted from BASP- out of the hotel. BJP is horsetrading hard to rope in MLAs. The legislators are being offered between Rs 25 – Rs 35 crore to switch sides, Digvijay said.
