NEW DELHI : In what would be the first major election to be held amid worldwide pandemic, the Election Commission announced Assembly polls for Bihar on October 28, November 3 and 7. The results will be announced on November 10.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora called it a ‘historic election’ and sure the polls come with first-time features. There will be an extra voting hour to discount covid curbs and also separate voting for Covid patients, those suspected of the infection and quarantined individuals. And, no physical contact will be allowed during the pre-election campaign.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who runs the government in alliance with BJP will attempt a fourth term at these polls, looking to defeat RJD party founded by jailed former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and second rival, the Congress party.
