NEW DELHI: In Bihar, campaign for phase-1 elections came to an end Monday evening. Polling will take place for 71 Assembly constituencies spread over 16 districts tomorrow. 71 consituencies will go to polls Wednesday, another 94 in phase-11 on 3 Nov and the remaining 78 on 7th Nov. Results will be out on 10 Nov.
Major fronts contesting the elections are NDA comprising BJP and JDU, and broad alliance - “Mahagathbandhan” -consisting Congress, Lalu Prasad’s RJD and the Left. The third front, AIMIM linking LJP and BSP(RLSP) is also in the fray. Poll survey pointed to a lead for the NDA faced with tough competition from Mahagathbandhan in much of the constituencies.

The region is crucial stronghold of schedule caste and tribes that form 26 percent of the state’s vote bank. CPIML that wields substantial influence in the southern portion, has candidates contesting from 8 constituencies.
