Guwahati : At least four passengers died and several others injured after six coaches of Anand Vihar- Kamkhaya North East Express derailed close to Raghtunathpur station in Bihar’s Buxar district Wednesday night.
Preliminary findings suggest poor track maintenance or fault at track-changing point. Either way, it’s a grim outlook given this accident has happened only months after faulty connections in automated signaling system was responsible for India’s worst rail disaster on 2 June that left 288 injured and over a 1000 injured.
92 trains, including Delhi Rajdhani Express, have been diverted post the accident. Passengers were headed to Kakkhaya in Guwahati. A relief train was pressed into service at the spot to take the to their destinations. The Union Railway Minister has ordered a detailed inquiry into the accident.
