Agartala: BJP unleashes widespread violence across Tripura in the first hour of polling. In several parts, voters complained of BJP workers preventing them from casting ballot.
At first, voters at Shatir Bazar booth in South Tripura reported they were being blocked from being able to vote. Two hours into voting, a spate of similar incidents were reported from various booths. Earlier in 2019 General elections and local body elections, complaints were rife of BJP workers blocking voters on wide scale.
At CPI(M)’s sitting constituency of Bishalghat, there were bomb attacks at two places early morning before voting began. The crude bombs were hurled on houses of CPI(M) workers Tarun Debnath in Gautam Nagar and Aseem Deb Nath in Murbadi.
The opposition parties, including the CPI(M) had urged the Central Election Commission for free and fair elections. 400 companies of central forces have been deployed in Tripura toward this. Of the 337 polling stations in State, 1128 are problematic. 28 booths among these are extremely notorious in this regard.
