New Delhi: The Delhi Police stated that former president of Wrestling Federation and BJP MP, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh assaulted adult female wrestlers sexually and that he deserves punishment. The statements came mentioned in the Chargesheet the Delhi Police filed in Special Court. Following police request, the court issued Notice to Brij Bhushan for appearing before it on 17 July.
The Chargesheet accuses BJP MP of committing sexual assaults, criminal intimidation and stalking of young female wrestlers. Of the 108 witnesses, 15 endorsed the allegations as true. If convicted, Brij Bhushan faces a maximum of five years in jail.
Witnesses would comprise international referees and teammates of the victims. Six wrestling stars were molested at least a fifteen times each. Police submitted witness testimonies and documents in support of these assaults. The victim assaulted during mat training has her husband and brother for witnesses.
The girl whom Brij Bhushan forcibly hugged was stalked and intimidated through her parent’s phone. This was confirmed by her mother and other wrestling colleagues. She said, after returning from Kazakhstan, Brij Bhushan would constantly call her daughter. It is Rafahi who testified the MP’s sexual advances toward a wrestler during a photo shoot. Witnesses from Rohtak, Snipat, Lucknow, Patiala, Kurukshetra, Hssar, Bhiwani, Chandigarh and Bellari gave their testimonies to police.
Meanwhile Brij Bhushan maintains he is innocent. With minor victim changing her account of assault, police withdrew POCSO charges against the MP.
