Both Hindus and Muslims claim control to 2.77 acres of land in UP's Ayodhya. Hindus believe the site to be birthplace of Lord Ram. In 1992, righwing activists tore down the 16th century Babri mosque that stood there, claiming it was built on the ruins of an ancient temple.
The incident triggered massive riots across the country in which more than 3,000 people were killed.
