Asst. ED Director Arrested After CBI Catches Him Red-handed Taking Bribe Rs 20L

New Delhi : The CBI on Wednesday arrested Assistant Director of Enforcement Directorate(ED) after catching him red-handed accepting Rs 20 lakh in bribe from a Mumbai-based business who he threatened to incriminate in fake case.

The ED officer, Sandeep Singh Yadav,  who worked in the Central Board of Direct Taxes was appointed as Assistant Director of ED in May of last year. Based on tip-off, CBI set their trap to catch Yadav in the act and as expected accepted the money handed to him by the businessman.

Backdrop: The ED conducted searches at business premises of Mumbai-based jeweller on 3 and 4 August. Latter, the Asst. Director called the jeweller and threatened to arrest his son if he was not paid Rs 25 lakhs. The amount was later negotiated down to Rs 20 lakhs.
