Vijayawada : A major fire broke out at a chemical factory in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada leaving four workers dead and four in critical condition. 12 persons remain hospitalised with burns.
The blaze occurred early dawn Thursday at Eluravira factory in Akkireddygudem district and was triggered by leakage of nitric acid. There were a total of 18 staff present in the factory at time of fire. Four of the deceased are migrant workers from Bihar. The fire was brought under control in two hours.
The deceased were identified as Udurpati Kishnayu, B Kian, Kumar, Karu Ravidas, Manoj Kumar , Musras Ravi das and Habdas Ravidas.
Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy announced Rs 25 lakh solatium to kin of the dead, Rs 5 lakh for those critically injured and Rs 2 lakh for those with minor injuries.
