Chandigarh > The CITU Haryana state committee in a statement issued on October 31, has condemned the brutal lathicharge and arrest of striking Haryana roadways employees and CITU leaders who were supporting their strike. Many people including women were injured in the lathicharge by the police.

The CITU state committee demands that the tenders for private buses should be cancelled immediately. The arrested people should be released.

In the press release, the CITU state leaders have indicted the government for its failure to address the issues of the people and said that it is testing the patience of the people. The people, despite facing hardships since last 15 days, are supporting the movement of the striking roadways employees. The government remains indifferent to the problems and hardships faced by the people in the state.

The CITU leadership has stated that the government is intimidating the striking employees and intends to finish off the movement. This is not possible owing to the mass nature of the movement. Those who were arrested include Jagtar Singh, state secretary of CITU, Surender, vice president, Sukhbir, treasurer and dozens of leaders of different mass and class organisations.

The CITU has stated that it will support the call given for the future course of the movement by the Haryana roadways workers union and Haryana Employees Co-Ordination Committee.
