NEW DELHI : Protests against police excesses in Jamia Millia University campus, grew violent in east Delhi leaving several persons including policemen injured.
According the sources, the protest that began around 12 pm got was largely peaceful until police in riot gear resorted to lathi charge and tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Following the violence, the entry and exit gates at six metro stations have been shut.
This is the second incidence of violence, two days after police on Sunday barged into the Jamila Millia University campus and thrashed students who protested peacefully iin the premises.
