THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : In context of preventive measures against Coronavirus, the Union Home Ministry asked States across the nation to look up to Kerala as role model to follow. The Centre asked States to pattern after the constant vigil maintained by Kerala authorities ever since its first case of the surfaced. Health Secretary Preethi Sudan congratulated Kerala for its healthcare competency.
Meanwhile, State Health Minister KK Shailaja said there were no fresh cases reported on Tuesday. 2,421 people are under observation for possible exposure, of whom 2321 remain in their homes and another 100 in different hospitals, she said. 190 blood samples were sent in the latest batch for tests, of which 118 are being tested at Alappuzha, the minister added.
A list has been drawn naming people who came into contact with the 3 students down with the virus : 82 in Thrissur, 51 Alappuzha, and 29 Kasaragod.
On Road To Recovery
All three students - natives of Thrissur, Alappuzha and Kannangad - have shown marked improvement in their health condition. Blood samples from people under surveillance in these districts, have been sent for tests.
In Kasaragod, two more persons have been shifted to isolation ward. No new cases have been reported from Alappuzha so far.
Meanwhile, police arrested a man for propagating fake news on the outbreak. The 44-year-old man has been identified as Manoj, a resident at Kuttiyil Veedu, Puthanchira in Mala. With this, the number of mischief makers arrested so far rose to 7.
China Reports 427 Deaths
In China, the epicenter of coronavirus, death toll up to Tuesday climbed to 425. A Wuhan man in Hongkong had succumbed to the virus, is the country’s latest casualty. Incidentally, Philippines has reported one death from the virus.
The number of infected in China tally to 20,438. The virus has travelled to other shores too. US and Singapore reported fresh cases of the virus, taking the tally of countries with Coronavirus to 25.
