New Delhi: The Bill repealing the three controversial agri laws were passed by Lok Sabha early in the day and Rajya Sabha afternoon. Though Opposition called for customary discussions on the topic, the demand was largely ignored and the Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021 came about to be passed in matter of just five minutes by voice vote in Lok Sabha amid ruckus and saw of repeat of similar scene in Rajya Sabha too.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh presented the Bill in the Lok Sabha. The reasons submitted for repeal were stated as rejection of the laws by the broader community that resulted in setback in recent byelections for the BJP and upcoming Assembly elections
The repeal comes after a year-long historic protests by the farmers forcing government to pull back the laws. The Bill will now go up for president’s signature marking repeal of the laws.
