NEW DELHI : Staunch anti-CAA protester and Bhim Army, Chief Chandrashekar , who was earlier barred by court from entering Delhi, is being allowed to return to the city on condition that, a schedule of his movements shall be submitted to senior police officials including DCP(Crime), at least 24 hours in advance.
Chandrashekar was arrested on 21 December, a day after he led an anti-CAA protest at Delhi’s Jama Masjid. He was charged with rioting, arson and inciting violence. Following the Bhim Army chief’s release last week, the court had banned him from tripping to the capital.
On Saturday, the defense lawyers moved the court pointing out that the restriction violated fundamental rights including the right to participate in polls.
The court, describing elections as the “biggest festival” of democracy, made amends to facilitate his participation, subject to the pre-schedule condition.
