New Delhi : With Covid cases spiking unabated, the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has convened a meeting with Health Ministers of the southern states. The meeting will evaluate ongoing Covid situation in the states.
2,51,209 fresh cases were recorded countrywide Thursday. There are currently, 21,05,611 patients under treatment. 627 died from the virus yesterday. The Test Positivity Rate (TPR) figures at 15.88%. 3,47,443 persons took vaccine shots in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Karnataka and Maharashtra are witnessing a decline in Covid cases. Karnataka reported a daily tally of 38,083 on Thursday and Maharashtra 25,425. Tamil Nadu recorded 28,512 cases yesterday. Kerala reported 51,739.
Union Health Secretary Ajay Balla wrote to states asking to upkeep Covid restrictions and isolation parameters in current manner up to 28 February.
The continuance of current protocols up to Feb 28has been advised given that 407 districts across the country are recording infection rate above 10 percent.
