Raipur : CPI(M) bagged two wards in the Municipal Corporation polls held last week. It marks the party’s first election victory in the state.
Surthi Kuldeep won Bairotil ward in the industrial city of Korba, while Rajkumari bagged victory in Monkre ward.
Surthi defeated BJP candidate for by a majority margin of 444 votes, while Rajkumari defeated Congress rival by 299 votes.
The victory marks acceptance for CPI(M)’s continued struggle against BJP-Congress policies for the state, said CPI(M) State Committee.
