New Delh: CPI(M) began its relief drive in riot-hit northeastern parts of Delhi on March 1 of 2020 soon after violence subsided. It provided needy families with sustainable aid and rehabilitation. Deliveries to victim families numbering 1,126 included, vessels, clothing, medicines and legal aid. Around 6,130 were offered direct help in money. More than 100 houses were supplied with gas cylinders and stoves. CPI(M) leaders also made door--to-door visits to help families regain their lost confidence. Legal aid too was arranged for in coordination with All India Lawyers’ Association.
However notwithstanding any of these, a section of media is busy tarnishing CPI(M). The campaign began after Youth League leader got trapped in Khatua Fund fraud. “Media One” too has picked on the propaganda in its own effort to defame CPI(M).
CPI(M) gave away Rs 1 lakh to every family that lost its loved one to the riots and also disbursed Rs 5000 -Rs 20,000 in aid to those injured. The party continued its relief efforts even amid lockdown. 2,100 persons were delivered grocery on regular basis in relief. It gave away handcarts to 50 persons for their livelihood and also delivered sewing machines to women. Rs 2000 was remitted to families for three months alongside learning accessories for children.
Also teachers were appointed to help children with their studies. Efforts are on to set up skill development centres for the youth.
