CPI(M) Worker Chembanezhthu Raju’s Murder; 7 BJP Workers Get Rigorous Life Imprisonment

Thrissur : Seven BJP workers get rigorous life sentences for murder of CPI(M) worker Chebanezhthu Raju back in 2008. The culprits must also in addition pay Rs 1 lakh each in fine. The quantum sentencing was delivered by Thrissur First Additional Sessions Judge PN Vinod.

1st to the 6th accused were found guilty in the crime. Also convicted is the 9th accused.

Those sentenced with lifer are : Rateesj )35), Padinjare Vembaloor Kaikapath Giresh(42), SN Puram Kadapruma Palumuri resient Manoj(44), Padinjare Vembaloor Vazhoor residen Ranjith(31), SM Puram Babikav Perngthr resident Surendran, SN Puram Bazardesham Anangot Kishan(40) and Puvathukav Thoppil Shaji(39).

The crime dates back to 2006, 24 September. On the day, Raju and wife stayed back at a relative’s house after customary dinner. Late that night,  the above gang, all  RSS-BJP men, pried open the roof tiles and made their way into the couple’s room hacking Raju multiple times. Raju eventually died. His wife Sandhya and the relative sustained wounds while attempting to save Raju.
