NEW DELHI : Elections for Delhi State Assembly will be held on February 8 and results declared on 11 February, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora announced today. 13,000 polling stations will be set up and approx 90, 000 officers will be deployed for the state elections, he added.
The govt notification in this regard will be issued on 14 January. The last date for filing nominations would be 21 January while the deadline to withdraw nominations is set at 24 January.
The 70-member Delhi Assembly completes its term on 22 February.
Incumbent Arvind Kejrival-led AAP government had announced a slew of freebies in the past one year in what is seen as bid to woo voters for a second consecutive term. AAP came to power in February 2015 sweeping 67 of the 70 Assembly seats in the state elections.
